Glutathione is a tripeptide — three amino acids joined together — and the body makes its own, where it acts as an antioxidant. On skin it helps areas of darker pigment look more even over time. The clearest evidence is a ten-week trial in which each participant used glutathione on one side of the face and a placebo on the other, and the glutathione side looked more even from the early weeks onward. Two things are worth knowing about it: the change is gradual, showing over weeks rather than days, and it is maintained by continued use rather than banked.
